This is our new line of low cost - better than the competition - magnetic starters. These are available in this configuration up to 20 HP @ 480V; 10 HP @ 230V 3-phase; 5 HP @ 230V 1-phase. We have a very similar low cost set up in even larger sizes with a larger enclosure....
Our motor starters use UL certified, registered or recognized IEC type components.
Every Motor Starter is built and tested to order in Alabama, USA. Our customer's come back time and time again, try one and you will see... Nothing else in this price range even comes close to what we offer.
Please call us if you have any questions. We want you to get the right equipment - 1-855-4Elimia. We offer an extensive line of standard motor starters as well as custom built units. Combination starters and reversing starters are also available in standard and custom configurations.
This new magnetic motor starter is designed to run general equipment and machines that operate (start and stop) solely from local push button switches. This starter is pre-wired in such a way that the starter disengages when a power blink happens - so that the equipment will not automatically re-engage when power returns. Also, this is not the right starter configuration for equipment that automatically runs based on a limit switch. Our models HOA and ACMS should be used for starters that engage based on machine conditions...... Remember, motor starter's overloads are designed to protect your machine and have limited capability of protecting from short circuits - short circuits are protected by your feeder circuit breaker.
Pre-wired for easy installation.
This starter includes a 22mm double push button, start, stop and indicator light combination switch.
The unit will arrive completely assembled in a nice NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure. These enclosures are not like the competition's thermoplastic boxes. The top half of the enclosure is authentic polycarbonate and the bottom is blended, fiber and polycarbonate. PG knockouts are provided for cable clamps or conduit up to 3/4". The design of the enclosure gives easy access to the motor starter making wiring up easier and allowing for a more compact unit. These enclosures are made in Europe by Ensto of Finland.
Model Number: DOL 9-13-230LC
DOL = Direct on Line

208-240 = Coil Voltage
LC = Low cost compact design
Sized for 3 HP @ 208-230V 3 phase.
IEC type motor starters are made up of primarily two parts. A contactor and overload device. Both devices have maximum ratings and the overload has maximum and minimum ratings. You should choose a motor starter that fits both criteria. If you need help please email or call, we will be glad to assist.
To size your starter properly you must determine the following:
-Three phase or Single phase
-Supply voltage ie. 120V; 208V; 240V; 480V; 600V
-Machine single motor HP
-Motor FLA (full load Amps)
-Application, what type of machine you running
We recommend that for certain machines to use a contactor that is oversized. Meaning if you have a 10 HP machine and the contactor is rated for not more than 10 HP, we recommend you go up one contactor size to a 15 HP contactor. This is recommended for hard starting machines and machines that are started and stopped frequently. Such as some air compressors, blowers, vacuums etc... Also, you must size the contactor based on your supply voltage. A contactor rated for 15 HP at 480V three phase will be rated for less HP at 240V. Exceeding the contactors rating will dramatically reduce its life. Please call if you need help.
If your supply Voltage is 208V and you want to use your supply power to power the contactor coil... Our 230/240V coils are rated down to 196 Volts. Now, under most cases our standard 230/240V coil will work flawlessly on 208V systems. But, if your machine is very large for your electrical service OR your wiring run is long or undersized I recommend using a separate 120V source for the coil power.
Ratings of contactor used in this starter, do not exceed ratings. Note that the contactor is a separate device from the overload relay and can/should be sized at least as large as the trip rating of the overload. We usually oversize the contactor at least by 1 HP size rating for all applications. The exception to this rule is the frame size overlap rating areas.
Size 25 Contactor
3 phase- 10 HP @ 230 VAC Max FLA 28 Amps
Control voltage is 208-230 VAC and is pre-wired. (Note: the power source for the control wiring of this starter is pre-wired and sourced from your feeder wiring directly on the line side of the starter. You will not need to pull in a separate power source for the controls).
The control voltage is the voltage used to activate the coil of the contactor. In the simplest install you will want a coil voltage the same as your power supply. But is some cases you might want the control voltage to be different for a host of reasons.
The overload will have an adjustable Amperage range. Your overload choice is based on your machines FLA. If your machine motor has a FLA of 10 Amps at your supply voltage then you should choose the overload where 10 Amp falls within the adjustable range. For a 10 Amp FLA we would recommend overload 9 - 13 Amps. Some folks size overloads based on FLA times the Service Factor. I have not found this to be necessary to avoid nuisance tripping and I recommend using only the FLA to size the overload.
Our overloads can be set for manual or automatic reset operation. The overload control is pre-wired by Elimia in a way that trips the starter. This is done to protect your equipment and is one of the main purposes of a motor starter.
Our standard overload is thermal type class 10A.
Components mounted on a easy to remove back plate.
Enclosure size is ~7 x 5 x 5
90 day replacement Elimia warranty for part failures - no warranty for undersizing, lightening, mis-wiring etc....
We have pre-wired DOL motor starters available from 0 HP to 200 HP.
Please call 1-855-4Elimia for more info or if we can help sizing a starter.
